Miss Dodsworth and Mrs Blessington welcome you to our Reception class. We are super excited for the academic year ahead and we are positive that your child will have an exciting and happy year with us. We provide a high quality EYFS education giving children a secure and confident start to their full-time school life. We are committed to nurturing a lifelong love of learning alongside the aims of the EYFS statutory framework. We use our school building blocks – Respect, Empowerment, Belief - to build resilient and motivated learners. A Day in Acorn Class!

The children are welcomed at the Reception classroom door each morning by Miss Dodsworth at 8:45am. We encourage children to hang up their own coats and bookbags, before self registering, and starting our morning activity which during the first term is name writing practice. Our learning begins at 9:00, so it is really important that children are in school by then. We have a morning filled with learning and play before going to lunch at 11:45-1:00. Our afternoon continues like our morning, with a mix of play, whole class inputs, group work and 1:1 activities. Throughout each day your child will receive a careful balance of direct teaching, small group work and child-initiated play. We use ClassDojo to share our learning in Acorn Class! It is also useful to keep an eye on any important dates for the diary shared on there too. You can keep track of your child’s dojo rewards which are linked to our school values, Respect, Empowerment and Belief. Dojo is also an excellent way to share with us any achievements made at home to as they each have their own individual portfolios. We always look forward to celebrating those moments too!
